East Region - Second Round
(26-8, 12-6 AAC)
What You Need To Know: The Huskies have built their identity on defense over the years, and this season is no different. They do a great job of forcing turnovers, they don't give up a lot of easy baskets and protect the rim better than most teams. Guard Shabazz Napier is a quality scorer who can take over games with his quickness, and he’s also is a defensive wizard who can wreak havoc in the backcourt. DeAndre Daniels and Ryan Boatright bring some balance to the offense, and Boatright's vision helps set up Napier on give-and-go plays. Daniels is a solid rebounder who also is a good shot blocker, and big Amida Brimah can alter shots with his long arms in the paint.
Strengths: Blocked Shots, Field Goal Percentage Defense, Free Throw Shooting
Weaknesses: Rebounding, Assists, Field Goal Percentage
(24-9. 11-5 A-10)
Saint Joseph's Hawks
What You Need To Know: The Hawks have been inconsistent this year, but there's no denying their depth and ability to hurt teams in a variety of ways. Langston Galloway is an experienced guard who wants the ball when the shot clock is winding down and can create off the dribble, and he helps enough on the boards to trigger the transition game. Ronald Roberts, Jr., is the Hawks' inside presence, and he hits the glass hard while also wearing down opponents' bigs with his strength. Forward Halil Kanacevic is a great all-around player who combines the length of a forward with the ball-handling skills of a guard he’ll create tough matchups for opponents. St. Joe's can suffer from offensive brownouts at times, and this isn't a team built to come from behind.
Strengths: Shooting, Three Point Shooting, Blocked Shots
Weaknesses: Steals, Free Throws, Turnover Margin
